Student Life
Students involved at the Catholic Student Center participate in many activities throughout the year. Many serve at Sunday Mass as lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, altar servers, by singing in the choir, or simply attending Mass prayerfully.
The Catholic Student Center hosts two retreats each year, one each in the spring and fall semesters.
Campus minister Matthew Newsome and our chaplain, Father Alex Ayala, contribute continuously to the education and spiritual development of our students.
"[Christians] have the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ himself impressed upon their hearts, and they observe them, awaiting the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come." --Aristides, Apology 15 [A.D. 140]
During the regular academic year, students meet every Wednesday evening at the Student Center for a food and fellowship at 6:30 pm.
The center is open from 10:00am to 10:00pm Monday through Saturday for you to drop by. Many students take advantage of the opportunity to come pray before the Blessed Sacrament in our Chapel between classes. A "home away from home" we have a full kitchen, dining room and living room for students to use and relax in. Students are welcome to watch DVDs, play a few games on our Wii, or just take a nap on the sofa in front of the fire place. The center has free Wi-Fi, which makes it convenient for getting homework done or just updating your Facebook page.
Over the course of the year students have the opportunity to participate in Eucharistic Adoration, Reconciliation Services, RCIA, volunteer service work with our community, and many other faith-centered activities. They also have the opportunity to build life-long friendships with fellow Catholic students.
Many students have approached the Catholic Student Center as strangers and left years later as a dear part of our family. Won't you be a part of our community?
